2014 Mazda3 and Mazda6 Each Land on Car and Driver's 10Best Cars List

Both the compact Mazda3 and Mazda6 midsize sedan received their brand's new KODO design language and a full suite of SKYACTIV fuel-saving technologies for the 2014 model year, and not coincidentally, both vehicles have landed on Car and Driver's 2014 10Best Cars list. The accolades mark the 12th straight year that Mazda has had a model on the prestigious list, and it was the only auto brand to secure two separate spots on the list this year.

For a week each fall, Car and Driver takes new or significantly upgraded models priced under $80,000, as well as its 10Best winners from the previous year, and puts them through their paces on the street and track. Editors reward the cars that provide the most value, fulfill their missions in an elegant and comprehensive manner, and fully engage their drivers on the road. In the cases of the 2014 Mazda3 and Mazda6, Car and Driver found that the models belied their affordable price tags as "finesse cars" that are "balanced and ergonomically perfect."

Both the 2014 Mazda3 and Mazda6 feature a lightweight and nimble SKYACTIV-Chassis and the choice of a standard SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual gearbox or an available SKYACTIV-Drive six-speed automatic transmission. Coming standard with a 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-G four-cylinder engine, the 2014 Mazda3 sedan produces 155 horsepower while returning up to 41 mpg on the highway. Meanwhile, a 184-horsepower 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G four-cylinder is available on the Mazda3 and standard on the 2014 Mazda6, where it nets up to 40 mpg on the highway when outfitted with the automatic transmission and Technology Package.
