With its taller and more versatile roof options, the all-new 2015 Ford Transit full-size van required a special rail car to even make it to U.S. dealerships, but now that it has arrived, businesses have an unprecedented set of solutions for meeting their transportation needs. Slated to gradually replace Ford's best-selling E-Series, the Transit comes in van, wagon, chassis-cab and cutaway body styles while offering three roof heights, three body lengths and two wheelbases.

High-roof Ford Transit models provide 81.5 inches of cargo height, allowing a six-foot-four-inch-tall person to stand up straight while they load up to 487.3 cubic feet of cargo. That amount of space is an improvement of nearly 80 percent compared to the most voluminous E-Series model, and more than twice the cargo room of the standard E-Series. Across all Transit models, the rear cargo doors open up to 270 degrees, making it easier to load larger equipment.

"The new Ford Transit can be a real game-changer for small businesses because it is more spacious, more fuel efficient and more comfortable than other large vans on the market," said Jeff Klein, general sales manager of Thomas Ford, a Beverly, MA Ford dealership. "Also, the Transit has a short front end and a tight turning radius, so it's surprisingly maneuverable despite its longer lengths and taller roof heights."

Under its hood, the 2015 Ford Transit is available with three engines that feature a solid mix of power and fuel economy. The standard 275-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 can be paired with an optional compressed natural gas/liquid propane gas prep kit, while the same 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that has proven to be powerfully efficient in the Ford F-150 boasts a best-in-class 400 pound-feet of torque in the Transit. Business owners can even opt for a cost-effective oil-burning option with the all-new 3.2-liter Power Stroke five-cylinder common-rail turbo diesel. Inside the cockpit, the Transit is available with a 6.5-inch touchscreen that controls navigation and the SYNC with MyFord Touch infotainment system, enabling drivers to stay better connected along their routes.
