Since its market launch in 2002, Porsche's Cayenne has made countless believers out of skeptics who doubted that an SUV could provide sports-car-like handling, and it has become the luxury automaker's best-seller in the process. For the 2015 model year, the Porsche Cayenne will boast more power and efficiency, don an even sportier front-end and offer an all-new plug-in S E-Hybrid model.

The front of the refreshed 2015 Cayenne pulls its design cues from the new Porsche Macan compact SUV, sporting new fenders, a larger grille and crisply styled air intakes that contain sharper air fins. Four-point LED daytime running lights are now standard in the Cayenne's Bi-Xenon headlamps, while the revised rear taillights are also divided into four elements. Inside, buyers will benefit from a new multifunction sport steering wheel with shift paddles when the 2015 Cayenne goes on sale in November.

"Everything that is great about the Cayenne will be even greater for the 2015 model year, as Porsche continues to blur the line between an SUV and a sports car," said Larry Bedell, general manager of Porsche of Nashua, a New Hampshire Porsche dealer. "Regardless of the Cayenne trim that drivers choose, they will be able to count on excellent performance, improved fuel efficiency and bolder style."

Bidding farewell to the V8 engine from past models, the 2015 Porsche Cayenne S houses a new 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 that produces 20 more horsepower than its larger predecessor, featuring 420 horsepower on tap. Meanwhile, the 2015 Cayenne Turbo receives enhancements to its 4.8-liter twin-turbo V8 to churn out 520 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, improvements of 20 horsepower and 37 pound-feet of torque. When it comes to alternative powertrains, the 2015 Cayenne Diesel will be more efficient thanks to the implementation of refined fuel-saving technologies and active air flaps across the SUV lineup. Additionally, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid will debut with a total system output of 416 horsepower coming from its 3.0-liter supercharged V6 gas engine and powerful electric motor.
