Sanford, ME – June 15, 2015Seacoast Career Schools in Sanford, ME, is opening its doors to the community on Wednesday, June 17th, for a special open house. Two educational sessions – one on financial aid and one on basic computer concepts – will be offered free of charge to anyone who would like to attend.

The first session is “How to Complete a FAFSA – No Matter Which School You’re Applying To.” Seacoast Sanford’s Director of Financial Aid, Leigh Sullivan, will help attendees fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). “The FAFSA application can be confusing,” says Sanford Campus Director Ron Maziarz. “But the great thing is that once you fill it out, it’s in the system and can be accessed by any school you apply to.” Nearly all schools use FAFSA to determine eligibility for federal and state financial aid.

Maziarz states that this session is open to everyone, regardless of which school(s) they may be applying to. Attendees who want to complete the application during the session should bring their tax returns.

The second session is “Introduction to Computers.” This free class is designed to help people get comfortable with computers and computer terminology. “We wanted to offer this session to take the fear out of using computers,” say Maziarz. “There are some people who haven’t had the opportunity to use computers regularly, for example, senior citizens or people who aren’t exposed to computers at work. We’ll talk about the difference between hardware and software, and some other basic concepts. Hopefully we can help people increase their comfort level with technology.”

Maziarz says that offering these educational sessions is Seacoast’s way of supporting the greater Sanford area. “The community has always supported us. This is our way of giving back to the community.”

Both sessions are free and open to the public. Workshops will take place on Wednesday, June 17th from 3:00-4:30 at Seacoast Career Schools, 1 Eagle Dr., Sanford, ME. Advance registration is required. Call 207-490-0509 to reserve a spot.
