Legacy ER & Urgent Care opened locations in Coppell, Frisco, Keller, McKinney and North Richland Hills this week, making it the nation’s largest stand-alone provider to offer both urgent care and emergency room services under one roof. Headquartered in Plano, Legacy ER & Urgent Care has an additional location in Frisco and one Allen.

“Our hybrid model is unique to Texas – there are no stand-alone ER-urgent care hybrids in other states. There are only three here in Texas, and we are by far the largest in terms of locations, employees and patients,” said Keith Miller, president of Legacy ER & Urgent Care.

Under the hybrid model, Legacy ER & Urgent Care patients only pay emergency room prices when it’s truly an emergency, but they still have access to board-certified physicians and state-of-the-art equipment that is not usually available in stand-alone urgent care centers.

“Stand-alone urgent care centers aren’t required to have a doctor on site and typically don’t have the same kind of treatment and diagnostic equipment available. That’s why so many of them get a ‘Doc in the Box’ reputation,” said Dr. Jay Woody, Legacy ER & Urgent Care’s founder and chief medical officer. “However, if you go to an ER, you’re charged ER prices even though about 70 percent of ER visits aren’t truly an emergency. Legacy ER & Urgent Care is different. We give patients a better option.”

In celebration of the new locations, Legacy ER & Urgent Care is offering $10 flu shots in all the communities it serves. “Flu shots are usually covered under health insurance, and we can check that for you when you come in. If you’re covered, then the shot is free; but if you don’t have insurance or your insurance doesn’t cover you 100 percent, then this may be a good option for you,” Miller explained.

Urgent care and ER hours will be the same in all locations. Urgent care is available from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily, and ER services are accessible 24-7, 365 days a year. The typical visit takes 30 to 60 minutes from door-to-door, with a wait time of less than five minutes before being seen. Online check-in is available at http://legacyer.com/, and walk-ins are welcomed.

Founded in 2008, Legacy ER & Urgent Care is one of the nation’s first stand-alone health care models to offer both urgent care and emergency room treatment options under one roof. It has built an exceptional customer service program and rating by providing transparent billing, soothing environments and one-on-one service with board-certified, emergency-trained physicians. Patients have access to immediate, on-site emergency room equipment and only pay emergency care prices when it is truly an emergency.
