Sports Video Innovations’ Built-In Camera Delivers World’s First, Live-Streaming Footage of Player POV

SHREVEPORT, La. October 28, 2015 — Sports Video Innovations (SVI) announced today that the world’s first live streaming of footage from its built-in video helmet camera debuted during pre-game coverage of the San Francisco – Seattle game, when warm-up action was seen through the eyes of tight end Vernon Davis. The game took place Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at Levi’s® Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

SVI’s patented, built-in video camera technology is both rugged and streamlined enough to be safely integrated within the nose bumper of SchuttVision helmets. The resulting player point-of-view is one of a kind. The technology puts fans in the middle of the action and gives coaches and players a never-before-available view of plays for practice, training—and now, with the live streaming capability—the chance to closely examine strategies and tactics as they happen and from the center of the play.

The SVI camera built into the SchuttVision helmet is safe and National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment compliant. It can be used by players at any position, including during games. Nearly 30 NCAA and NFL teams have used the helmets. The camera delivers 720p HD video at 30 frames per second, with 2.5 hours of battery life and a removable SD card for media storage.

“We’re excited to usher in the next stage of our development in conjunction with last week’s match-up,” said Jeremey Jeansonne, SVI’s co-founder and CEO. “Everyone involved with football has been impressed with our technology. The ability to stream live straight from a player’s helmet represents another huge leap forward.”

The live streaming footage of Davis warming up was aired on CBS and can be seen here: https://youtu.be/9ELpvLdBTJs.
