Lawns Ltd. announced today their annual giving back to the community project. The Landscape and Lawn Care firm located in Waco, TX will be removing all current landscaping and completely transforming the Friends for Life property surrounding their building at 5000 Lakewood Drive in Waco TX. The project will include a low maintenance design incorporating native grasses, flowering trees, shrubs and plants. Also, an irrigation system will be installed to help the charity care for their new landscape.
“We chose Friends for Life because of the amazing work they do each year caring for the elderly and people with disabilities. They have a nice building, but the landscaping was quite plain and didn’t mirror the vibrancy of the work they do inside. We want all the staff, the volunteers and especially those who go each day to the Adult Day Care Center to feel proud as they walk to the doors of the facility.”
Friends for Life moved to the 26,000 square foot property on Lakewood Drive in 2006. The Meyer’s family Intergenerational Center houses not only the Adult Day Care but the many state-wide and local programs the charity operates such as Guardianship, Independent Living, Money Management as well as Intergenerational activities.
“It’s like a dream come true,” said Inez Russell, Founder and Director of the charity. “We’ve always been proud of our facility, but knew the landscaping didn’t match what is going on inside. We want everyone who drives by to think, ‘Wow! What’s going on there?’ We love for visitors to come in and tour our facility, see our seniors and people with disabilities dancing, playing games and having fun. We all will enjoy watching the transformation.”
Lawns Ltd. will begin the landscape work this month and hope to complete it by the end of the year. They will also be maintaining it each month.
“In planning the design, I wanted to bring a light, colorful and whimsical element to the property,” said Josh Wible, Lawn’s Ltd. chief Landscape Designer. "As I toured the facility, I saw the people in the Adult Day Care Center having so much fun, singing, dancing and playing games. The current landscaping did not mirror the inside at all, so changing that was my goal.”
