What a Pair! Pantone’s 2016 Color of The Year and Mixed Metals

DALLAS, TX (Dec. 4, 2015)—For the first time ever, Pantone has selected not one, but two shades for 2016 Color of the Year: Rose Quartz, a pale pink, and Serenity, a baby blue.

The Pantone Color of the Year defines trends in home décor and fashion – consumers can expect to find many products bearing these shades, which were chosen as they invite a sense of calm and relaxation into the home.

Randal Weeks, founding designer of Aidan Gray – a leader in the home furnishings industry, believes these selections will play extensively with one of 2016’s hottest design trends: mixed metals.

“The trend of mixed metals is complimented completely by their coupling with Serenity and Rose Quartz. These soft shades of blue and pink truly pop against along the metallic finish. Whether gleaming or distressed, the golds, silvers and coppers combined with wood, steel and/or other materials are elevated by the soft tonality of the Pantone Colors of the Year.”

It’s not just mixed metals that benefit by these color selections. Weeks says, “Rugs and uphostery that incorperated Rose Quartz and Serenity can help infuse a sense of reprieve and warmth to any space. Also, incorporating decorative accessories in Serenity and Rose Quartz through candles, decorative bowls, florals and vases is an easy and interchangeable way to add a subtle accent, creating a peaceful space.”
