Submit123PR -- June 20, 2018– Rothman Institute Orthopaedics is pleased to announce Anthony A. Romeo, M.D. has joined the practice as Chief of Orthopaedics – New York. Prior to joining Rothman Institute, Dr. Romeo was at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush with a focus on shoulder & elbow surgery and Sports Medicine. Dr. Romeo will lead Rothman Institute’s expansion into New York City and Westchester County this fall. He is actively seeing patients in Rothman Institute’s Marlton, NJ location.

Previously Dr. Romeo was a Professor of Orthopedics at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. He also served as Program Director of the Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship, as well as Section Head of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at Rush. Dr. Romeo was also co-team physician for the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Bulls.

Dr. Romeo is a leading authority on shoulder and elbow injuries, with a focus on rotator cuff repair, shoulder stabilization, shoulder replacements, and treatment of the athlete’s elbow. He is responsible for the design and development of innovative shoulder replacement systems to treat arthritis, as well as numerous instruments and devices that help improve the ability for surgeon’s to achieve successful results when treating athletes.
He is the author of over 300 peer-reviewed journal articles and thirty-five orthopedic textbook chapters. Dr. Romeo is also a member of several professional orthopedic societies and is currently serving as President of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.
After graduating with his Medical Degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine, Dr. Romeo then completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and his shoulder and elbow surgery fellowship at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.
