Firestone abruptly closed 13 of its 14 tire shops in the greater Salt Lake City area on Tuesday due to a master lease agreement, leaving employees scrambling for work and Firestone tire owners wondering what to do with their warranties and tire service needs. In the wake of the surprising announcement, Burt Brothers Tire & Service, the only local, direct Firestone dealer in Northern Utah, has extended a hand to foundering employees and customers.

Burt Brothers is a family-owned and operated chain of tire and auto repair shops with 11 locations along Utah’s Wasatch Front. The company will be holding a job fair at their corporate offices on Friday, April 5, starting at 8 am. Firestone employees can check out hiring opportunities at Burt Brothers’ shops.

Burt Brothers is also offering owners of Firestone tires that they can service their tire needs in the same way that Firestone shops can.

“We will make this a seamless transition for customers,” said owner Jeremy Burt. “We will honor all Firestone warranties and take care of all tire rotations and balances, flat repairs, and other needs.”

Burt Brothers will also accept the Firestone credit card.

Burt Brothers offers one of the largest Firestone tire inventories in the state, including the latest and greatest snow tires equipped to handle Utah’s winter roads.

“We pride ourselves in keeping up with all major tire manufacturers and offering our customers the newest innovations from each of these companies, including Firestone,” said Burt.

Burt said that his company is also looking for opportunities to reopen the Firestone shops under the Burt Brothers name. In the meantime, customers have their pick of many Burt Brothers locations to keep up their Firestone tire maintenance, including Park City, Farmington, Bountiful, Downtown Salt Lake City, Sugar House, Cottonwood, West Jordan, Sandy, Riverton, Highland, Jeremy Ranch, and Silver Summit.

In addition to selling and maintaining tires, Burt Brothers provides bumper-to-bumper car care, including alignments, brake repair, oil changes, heating and cooling, shocks, struts, and more. They’re a “one-stop-shop” for car and truck owners.

Burt Brothers has a strong rapport and history with Firestone. In fact, the company’s newest location—the downtown Salt Lake shop—is located in a historic facility built in 1934 by Harvey Firestone. Firestone was the founder of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and one of the first global makers of automobile tires.

As the only direct Firestone dealer in the area, Burt Brothers is authorized to work with Firestone without a wholesaler as a middle man. This makes for a far more convenient purchasing and maintenance experience for the customer.

Former employees of the now-closed Firestone shops can visit the Burt Brothers job fair on Friday at 737 N. 400 W. in North Salt Lake City. Firestone tire owners can continue to get tire maintenance, including warranty services, at any of Burt Brothers’ 11 locations.
