Falling in love can be breathtaking, unusual, and often wonderful, but falling in love with someone from an entirely different background can really put your relationship to the test. Power couple Joseph and Julie Gish have had their fair share of challenges—however, their story proves true love will prevail. No matter the trials and tribulations life tried to throw their way, their love pushed them through.
Joseph and Julie met back in 2007 when both were on a separate trip to Barcelona, Spain. A chance encounter at La Sagrada Familia left them with sparks and a desire for more. Detailed in their book “How We Became A Power Couple,” their love story explains how the couple only knew each other for six days before deciding to spend their lives together. Now having been together for 12 years, they continue to do everything as two and are always by each other’s side. But of course, no love story comes without a little sacrifice.
Joseph moved to China, where Julie lived, after only knowing her for seven days. The culture and language shock were prominent and they were faced with many arguments and differences. However, even though these difficult situations came up, they survived and prospered through it all. Once Julie obtained her immigration visa, they packed up and moved to California where they faced a new set of challenges to muster through.
With no family and not many friends, Joseph and Julie were still at odds in many ways after making the move across the pond to Hollywood but continued to pursue their dreams and passions together. Their belief that couples are stronger together is the inspiration behind their Power Couple brand through Instagram. They hope to enlighten people and spread love in an increasingly divisive world—especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. They are living proof that true love exists, and want to help people with their own relationships.
“The quintessential qualities for being successful long-term are communication, understanding, sacrifice, loyalty, honesty, listening, getting to know your partner, and persistency,” Joseph Gish tells us.
Through these pillars of success, anyone can build a solid relationship. Despite there being many factors, however, when all aspects are implemented and done correctly, Joseph explains, a relationship will almost always be harmonious.
