Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund to be head of state in new Afghanistan government
After days of consultations, the Taliban have nominated Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund as the new head of state, according to senior leaders, a media report said. They said the new government was likely to be installed on Wednesday, "or may get delayed for a few more days". The report said three Taliban leaders confirmed Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund's nomination. Read More
Need Brahmins' support to form majority government in UP next year: Mayawati
BSP supremo and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati Tuesday said the party will need the support of Brahmins if it has to form a government with a majority in next year's state elections. Mayawati said Brahmins have acknowledged that they were in a better condition as compared to under BJP's rule. “I assure the Brahmin community that if we come to power in the next elections, we will ensure their security. We should join more people from the Brahmin community with us for the upcoming elections to form the government with a majority, similar to 2007,” she stated. Read More
