After days of consultations, the Taliban have nominated Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund as the new head of state, according to senior leaders, a media report said. They said the new government was likely to be installed on Wednesday, "or may get delayed for a few more days". BSP supremo and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati Tuesday said the party will need the support of Brahmins if it has to form a government with a majority in next year's state elections. Mayawati said Brahmins have acknowledged that they were in a better condition as compared to under BJP's rule. “I assure the Brahmin community that if we come to power in the next elections, we will ensure their security.
