RAYNE - Announcement has been made of the upcoming critical flushing program of the city of Rayne’s water distribution system to begin Monday, Sept. 27, that will continue for approximately three weeks.
As part of the city’s continuing efforts to improve the water quality following the recent installation of the city’s new water filter system, the system will begin a critical flush of its water distribution system, the final stage to complete the water system’s upgrades.
Every fire hydrant in the city will be systematically opened to remove impurities in the line. During this process, the water will continue to meet the stringent guidelines required by the La. Dept. of Health and will be safe for normal water usage. Thank you is expressed to the citizens of Rayne for their patience and understanding during the final and critical stage of the city’s new water filter system.
Water consumers are reminded of the following actions:
• If you experience discolored water, let your faucet run until the water clears. For the vast majority of cases, everything will be back to normal in a few minutes and no further action is needed.
• If the water is discolored, we suggest not doing laundry. Remember this is only temporary.
