A violent earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale struck southern Pakistan at dawn on Thursday, causing dozens of deaths and injuries, most of them women and children. The US Geological Survey said the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.7 and that it occurred at a depth of 20 km and its epicenter was 102 km east of Quetta, and was warned by residents of this cities and many cities and towns in the region.

More than 100 mud houses collapsed and a large number of other buildings were damaged, including government buildings. Sohail Anwar, Deputy Commissioner of Harnai City, told Reuters that hundreds of people are now homeless.
