IVs tend to have a negative connotation.
Most people connect them with hospital stays for some kind of illness or severe dehydration.
There’s also that needle thing.
However, mobile IVs are a way of getting saturated nutrition to people where they live and work out.
About a year ago, Cape Coral’s Kasey Cook started a company called SWFL Health & Hydration, which personally delivers mobile IVs to gyms, spas or clients’ homes. He said the company works with a board-certified medical director as well as pharmacists.
“We have a menu of about 10 IVs like B complex, Vitamin C, minerals, zinc, calcium manganese, B12, amino acids, different things based on what a person is trying to accomplish,” Cook said. “They also may be rehydrating, helping their immune system, giving them more energy, decreasing inflammation.
“We give a range of supplements. The body will excrete what’s not needed.”
While some folks may have an initial trepidation with needles, Cook said it’s not like a hospital IV.
“There’s an initial poke and then it’s painless,” he said. “There’s not a needle in the vein, it’s a plastic tube. If a person is sick or bedridden, we’ll do it in bed. If they’re at home, we can do it on the couch. If they’re at work, we can do it on the office chair.
“And anything done by IV is 100 percent bioavailable. The body gets as much as it needs to use.”
