Telenor Pakistan Get License Renewed with PTA - Independent News Coverage Pakistan

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that Telenor Pakistan has signed the renewed license with the telecom regulator on 10th December 2021 at the PTA Headquarters (HQ).
Telenor Pakistan has renewed its license with PTA at the price of USD 449.2 million for a period of 15 years, out of which the telecom operator has already paid USD 333.64 million on account of license renewal fee and applicable markup.
The renewed license carries enhanced terms and conditions for the coverage and Quality of Service (QoS) and it was originally meant to be renewed in 2019. However, Telenor Pakistan had several objections over the new terms and conditions made in the license alongside Jazz, which was also scheduled to renew its license in 2019.
Jazz and Telenor Pakistan also developed disagreements with Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) over the price of the license renewal and the added terms and conditions. However, the two telecom operators failed to resolve the matter with the PTA and ended up filing a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
However, they ended up losing the case against PTA in September 2021 and took the matter to the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Although, Jazz ended up renewing its license with PTA in October by signing the agreement, while Telenor Pakistan ended up renewing its license with the authority on 10th December 2021.
It is pertinent to mention that Zong 4G is also fighting a case against PTA in the Islamabad High Court (IHC)...
