Mr. Starling Winfred “Wimp” Sisemore, age 96, of Lyerly, GA, died Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at his residence.
Mr. Sisemore was born May 17, 1925, in Henagar, AL, son of the late Starling Ezra Sisemore and Ethel Gertrude Wright Sisemore. He was a member and deacon of Faith Temple Holiness Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Mount Vernon Mills. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Willie Anderson Sisemore; son, Marty Keef; brothers, Johnny Sisemore, Gene Sisemore, James Sisemore, and Ralph Sisemore; a sister, Geraldine Sisemore; and a grandson, Dwight Keef.
Anyone that knew Mr. Sisemore knew that he had such a big heart. Often referred to as “Brother Wimp” or “Papaw Wimp,” he loved the Lord, his family, and his friends. He never knew a stranger and would always make you feel welcomed. He loved to play the guitar and taught some of his grandchildren and the children in the church how to play. He loved gospel music and played in several gospel music groups that traveled to local churches and in the tri-state area.
“Brother Wimp” touched so many lives with his kindness, humor, and mild temperament. He was truly a peacemaker and was always a source of positivity. He loved to grow vegetables and on a few occasions, could be seen in the local newspaper with some of his harvest.
