The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority on Tuesday said that a fault in a submarine cable could cause slow internet services in Pakistan. According to the PTA, the there was a cable cut in the Trans World (TW1) submarine cable reported around 6pm on Monday causing slow internet in Pakistan due to outage of international bandwidth.
The telecom authority added that the cut in the submarine cable may result in the degradation of internet services for users of Transworld bandwidth, however, steps are being taken to minimize the impact.
“The consortium is arranging adhoc bandwidth to minimize the impact. Efforts are going on to ascertain exact location of the fault and expected restoration time,” PTA added.
It is pertinent to mention that the Trans World (TW1) submarine cable system spans 1,300km connecting Pakistan, United Arab Emirates and Oman. The fault in the submarine cable is said to be at a distance of 400km from Pakistan.
