CARLSBAD

City offering cybersecurity program

Carlsbad invites local small businesses to participate in a Cybersecurity-Awareness Program. The city is working with the San Diego Cyber Center of Excellence to offer several free benefits. Carlsbad-based small-business owners (with fewer than 100 employees) can learn more about their online exposure and get a risk assessment from RiskRecon, a MasterCard company; and get training resources to help employees become more cyber-aware. This educational program is free for businesses in Carlsbad or that are suppliers to Carlsbad businesses. Apply at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8H7G6G7.

Company achieves green certification

Calsense, a smart-irrigation company, is now officially a green business. After working with Carlsbad’s Green Business Program, the company has earned the California Green Business Network certification. The process involved Calsense’s staff by implementing several operational changes through the company’s Green Team. Among the changes Calsense established are: displaying signs at its Carlsbad headquarters to encourage energy and water conservation in the building; switching to sustainable shipping alternatives to bubble wrap (and using a carbon-neutral shipping company); and training staff on proper recycling and switching to green-certified janitorial products. Calsense helps customers conserve water, manage labor and ultimately save money through smart irrigation. Visit www.calsense.com.
