Twitter’s decision to remove nofllow attributes from links on its site was met with celebration (and some confusions) among SEO circles because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up vastly increasing the number of links they could add to their overall strategy. In spite of the fact that this is the case, it seems like Twitter is working to bring these nofollow attributes back. This comes from certain users that took to Twitter to show the source code which revealed the presence of nofollow attributes in their links.

Nofollow attributes tell search engines to ignore links which often leads to SEO specialists foregoing Twitter in their optimization strategies. With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that the reversal of this decision by Twitter might force SEO professionals to rejigger their strategies yet again, and it might also ruin a lot of the plans they might have made based on an update that they assumed would stick around for the long term.

Another thing to note here is that many doubted that the removal of nofollow attributes would lead to Google counting Twitter links. Hence, this reversal might not be all that significant of a change for the world of SEO.
