It’s been a year since the New York Times first asked “Why did Facebook reject those ads?”. The piece drew attention to the difficulties many women’s health and sexual wellness brands face when trying to advertise on Facebook. The article even caught Hillary Clinton’s eye, who challenged the folks at Meta to do better.

Fast forward one year, and despite improvements Meta made to its global advertising policy, ads are still getting rejected, advertising accounts continue to be taken down and the injustice when it comes to advertising on the large global platforms Meta, Google, TikTok & Co continues as well.

So what is one to do? While our colleagues at the Center of Intimacy Justice continue to advocate for policy change, we’d like to take some time over the next few weeks to explore a work-around, and even more importantly value-creating business strategy with you: Let’s talk about SEO aka Search Engine Optimization.

So what is SEO?

According to our friends at Ahrefs SEO “is the practice of growing a website’s traffic from organic search results.
