The big update that is coming straight from London with respect to the general election in Pakistan is that former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif will return to Pakistan after more than four years after ending his self-imposed exile. On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, the younger brother of Nawaz Sharif and former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif announced, “his brother will return to Pakistan on October 21”. This major decision was announced after a meeting of the PML-N’s top leadership held in London and chaired by Nawaz Sharif who is the party founder and chief of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. Notably, Nawaz’s younger brother earlier said that Nawaz will be the next PM if their party wins the general elections.
Who is Shehbaz Sharif?
Shehbaz Sharif is the former prime minister of Pakistan. He served as the 23rd PM of the country. Shehbaz Sharif was in office for more than one year from April 2022 to August 2023 after PTI leader Imran Khan was ousted from power following a no-confidence motion. Currently, Shehbaz Sharif is serving as the president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. In his career, Shehbaz Sharif also has served three times as the CM of Punjab.
