“Hair and makeup are my passions,” admits Alicia Truc, Plantation, Florida-based salon owner, stylist and makeup artist. With that in mind, Truc has launched a new line of preservative- and paraben-free salon products, Femme Fatale, named after her Femme Fatale Salon and Spa at at 1844 N. University Drive in Plantation.

“My secret ingredient,” Truc confesses, sliding her hand through her thick, shiny black hair, “is one I inherited. My mother is Chinese, so she grew up learning all about Chinese herbs. She started combining certain herbs to use on her hair, instead of products with chemicals, to make it gorgeously thick and glossy. “When I was a little girl,” Truc recalls, “just ten years old, I started begging people to let me do their hair. They would complain that their hair wouldn’t let them do certain styles but, once I began using my mother’s all natural secret Chinese formula on them, I could do any style they wanted. They could not believe how thick, shiny and healthy their hair became. It’s my mother’s secret formula that is the foundation of my new product line, Femme Fatale. She’s the reason I would never make a product that wasn’t as healthy and eco-friendly as possible.”

Alicia Truc lives her commitment to the beauty and fashion world. In addition to owning and operating Femme Fatale Salon and Spa, and working full-time as a stylist and makeup artist, she spent two years as an artistic educator for Matrix, a L’Oreal salon products line, and is or has been educators for the Stefan’s Professional line of keratin-based products, De Fabulous professional hair care, and Aqua natural hair care extensions, so she knows firsthand the difference that natural products can make, providing that healthy glow we all want when we look in the mirror.

“Beauty comes from the inside. I believe it’s important to use products that are healthy and not laden with preservatives and chemicals like parabens, which are known to be endocrine system interrupters, or sulfates, which are potentially carcinogenic. These are just not things I want on my skin. And you shouldn’t want them on yours. Healthier products mean healthier hair and skin.”

Truc knows what she’s talking about. Truc is involved in photo shoots to fashion shows, and has shared her talents and expertise with such high profile venues as Model Latina, television’s modeling reality show competition, Silvia Tcherrassi’s runway modeling show and Miami’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, one of the nation’s hottest fashion shows. With professionals at this level, Truc knows what the top models in the spotlight are looking for.

“Maximum moisture, softness and shine in your hair, no matter what the type,” Truc says. Her botanical-based products have never been tested on animals. “I test them on myself,” Truc says proudly. “That means that there isn’t anything in any of the Femme Fatale products that I wouldn’t feel confident using. To me, that’s the most important pledge I can make to my clients and customers.”

The new Femme Fatale line of products is completely paraben-free, and includes a botanical, keratin-infused shampoo, conditioner, a leave-in conditioner, an intensive hair mask to fortify hair and lock in moisture, and a Vitamin A-enriched hair serum to add greater depth and glossy shine.

“I’ve been using this secret formula myself for years,” Truc says. “My customers kept demanding to get these to use at home themselves. Now they can.”
