After more than six years in production, the current-generation Chevrolet Silverado will be replaced by an all-new model next year, and details on the highly anticipated pickup truck are starting to leak. According to Automotive News, General Motors executives recently revealed at a dealer meeting in Las Vegas that the new 2014 Silverado will be taller, brawnier and more luxurious than the outgoing model.

Automotive News reported that the 2014 Chevy Silverado will be three to four inches taller, and it will also now feature rear doors for extended-cab models. Meanwhile, new crew-cab models will get a significant boost in rear legroom, as well as the option of a 6 1/2-foot bed, an eight-inch extension compared to the beds of current crew-cab models. More features can be expected across the 2014 Silverado lineup, including optional LED lights integrated into the bed rails, and buyers will be able to upgrade to a new luxury model called the High Country.

"Chevy has a long history of building the best trucks in America, and the next-generation Silverado will no doubt be the best yet, receiving improvements across the board," said Bo Hendrick, general sales manager of Waterville, ME Chevrolet dealer Central Maine Motors. "With a bolder look, more versatility and a variety of available luxury amenities, the 2014 Silverado should have the competition playing catch up once again."

As Chevy works to expand the Silverado lineup, its Malibu midsize sedan is due for a new addition to its family as well. Due to reach dealerships this fall with a new turbocharged and direct-injected 2.0-liter engine, the 2013 Chevy Malibu Turbo promises to bring plenty of performance with little sacrifice at the gas pump.

Rated at 259 horsepower, the Malibu Turbo's Ecotec 2.0-liter is one of the most power-dense engines in the industry, but it is the powerplant's torque that gives the car its punch. With 90 percent of the engine's 260 pound-feet of torque available from 1,500 rpm to 5,800 rpm, the four-cylinder mill offers seamless acceleration that is usually reserved for V6 units. Even with its ability to sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 6.3 seconds, the Malibu Turbo returns 30 mpg on the highway thanks to its efficient drivetrain.

The 2013 Malibu Turbo will also be offered with a range of standard and available amenities designed to make the car just as comfortable as it is capable. Standard equipment includes dual-zone climate control, remote start, ice-blue ambient lighting and an eight-way power driver seat, while those looking for more luxury can choose the available heated front seats and leather upholstery. The car's high performance will be backed with plenty of safety features as well, including 10 standard airbags and optional technologies like Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning.

"The new Malibu Turbo is going to surprise a lot of people, not only with its speed, but with the fuel economy it nets at the same time," added Hendrick. "It will be the perfect vehicle for Maine drivers that love blasting around back roads on the weekend, but need a car that lets them speed by the gas station during the work week."
