Ever wondered how your 4 year old seems to navigate your iPad better than you? It would appear that it’s intuitive; that those tiny little fingers and brains are wired to respond to today’s technology. With the plethora of affordable apps and eBooks now available for preschoolers it’s no wonder this interactive medium is growing as the learning centre of choice for children and parents alike.

Count, Sort & Match from Ripple Digital Publishing is one of the newest Apps for preschoolers and a great example of how fundamental math skills can be taught in an interactive and fun format. Children learn to count to 20 while developing fine motor skills as they trace numbers alphabetically and numerically on the friendly apple tree with audio confirmation along the way. Colourful laundry hanging on the line gets sorted by shape, colour and size. Typical sorting games are limited to shape only but by providing additional grouping options children reinforce their understanding of this key mathematical concept.

“We want to support early learning for all children and let them now math is fun,” explained Ivy Wong, Publisher of Ripple Digital Publishing. “By giving kids a head start, particularly in the areas of reading, writing and math, it helps build confidence and ensure their future academic success.”

Ripple’s previous Apps have already received recognition. Spell, Write and Read was chosen as the Editor’s pick by Best 10 Apps.com and is noted as “The great App for early learning that each kid should have.” The company has also published a series of eBooks including their recently released Red is…which explores the many meanings and associations of the primary colour red.

Ripple Digital Publishing is a Canadian company based in Toronto, Ontario that has published a variety of eBooks and educational Apps for children. They also initiated the Kids Write 4 Kids creative challenge (#KidsWrite4Kids) inviting children aged 6 to 12 to submit their original stories for a chance to become a published eBook author.
