Drivers are responding positively to the 2013 redesign of the Nissan Sentra, and reported owner satisfaction places it ahead of the competition. After a recent survey of more than 52,000 new-vehicle owners for its Vehicle Satisfaction Awards, AutoPacific named the 2013 Nissan Sentra as the Best-in-Class Compact Car. Appreciation for the model is showing in sales figures as well, with a 20 percent increase year-over-year through the first five months of 2013.

Research firm AutoPacific evaluated owner responses regarding 51 different model attributes, from interior comfort to fuel economy, in order to decide the winners of its Vehicle Satisfaction Awards. The 2013 Nissan Sentra improves on the previous version by shedding 150 pounds of weight and offering an optimized transmission with Nissan's next-generation Xtronic CVT for a class-leading 34 mpg combined. Despite this attention paid to the model’s fuel efficiency, more responsive performance can still be obtained from the 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine by selecting the Sport Mode.

"Nissan is also offering additional comfort and premium features, such as leather-appointed seats, a Bose premium audio system and automatic dual-zone climate control," said Frank Figueredo, general manager of Nissan of Fort Worth, a Texas Nissan dealership in Fort Worth. "The 2013 Nissan Sentra is also more spacious inside and returns better fuel economy, and that is a very attractive proposition that buyers are really responding to."

Nissan is in the process of carrying out a complete redesign of its lineup. Just in the past year, new versions of the Nissan Altima and Nissan Pathfinder were introduced for the 2013 model year, yielding very positive results. In fact, last May was the best month ever for Nissan, which saw the new Nissan Sentra, Altima and Pathfinder increase their sales by 65 percent, 41 percent and 293 percent, respectively. This marks a record May for the Pathfinder in the U.S. market with a total of 9,340 units sold during that month.
