Ram Truck Brand Touts Garage Makeovers with Its 'Ram Caves' Contest

Three Winners Will Get a Customized Space for Bonding with Their Ride

While many pickup-truck owners may already consider their garage a welcome oasis from the stresses of family life, Ram wants them to fully realize the potential of their vehicle's place of residence. As such, the truck brand is currently holding a contest that will give three winners a garage makeover, or rather a "Ram Cave," that will be designed by either Bob Vila, Timothy Dahl of charlesandhudson.com or Brett and Kate McKay of artofmanliness.com.

Now through Oct. 6, Ram fans can enter the contest at www.ramcaves.com by submitting a photo and essay highlighting why their garage should be transformed into a Ram Cave. Site visitors can vote on the entries through Oct. 9, and then the renovation experts will judge each entry based on public appeal, creativity and cause for garage renovation. That combination of public voting and judges' scores will decide the three grand-prize winners.

"The garage is the perfect place for bonding with your truck, working on a home-improvement project or maybe just finding some uninterrupted time away from the kids, so Ram's contest is encouraging fans to make the most of that space," said Tom Barenboim, owner of Clark Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, a Methuen, Massachusetts Ram dealer. "Even if you decide to build a Ram Cave yourself, the new Ram 1500 is built so that your trip to pick up materials is simple and painless, regardless of the size of the project."

The Ram 1500 received an extensive makeover of its own for the 2013 model year that included a new available air suspension system. When in Park Mode, the suspension lowers the pickup truck by two inches for easier loading into the bed, while a load-leveling capability detects payload during travel and automatically readjusts the Ram 1500 to normal ride height.

For the 2014 model year, the Ram 1500 will boast best-in-class standard V6 towing capacity with its 3.6-liter Pentastar gas engine, thanks to its revised eight-speed TorqueFlite 8 automatic transmission that allows the truck to pull up to 7,450 pounds. Additionally, an all-new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 will join the 2014 Ram 1500 lineup later this year, towing up to 9,200 pounds while returning more than 25 mpg on the highway to lead its class in fuel efficiency.

"With the arrival of the new diesel engine, the Ram 1500 will have two V6 engines that provide V8-like capability but still net impressive fuel economy," added Barenboim. "When truck buyers consider those powerplants along with the optional 5.7-liter HEMI V8, they are going to be hard-pressed not to find a mix of performance and gas mileage that meets their needs."
