Sleek Compact Is Dubbed Best in Class for 'Under $20,000' Category

For the second straight year, the Mazda3 compact car has earned a Best Value Award from Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine, which chooses its winners in different categories and price ranges based on performance, safety and value factors like fuel economy and depreciation. Last year, the 2014 Mazda3 topped the Cars Under $20,000 category in the Best New or Redesigned Models section of the awards, and this year, the 2015 model was recognized in the same price category, this time within the Best in Class section.

The editors at Kiplinger's praised both the sedan and hatchback versions of the 2015 Mazda3 i Sport for their impressive blends of fuel efficiency and cargo space. Equipped with a 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-G four-cylinder engine that outputs 155 horsepower, the Mazda3 i Sport offers a highly responsive ride while netting fuel-economy ratings of up to 40 mpg on the highway in the hatchback and up to 41 mpg on the highway in the sedan. With its rear seats folded down, the Mazda3 hatchback opens up to a voluminous 47.1 cubic feet of cargo space to accomodate small furniture or gear for weekend trips.

"The Mazda3 provides buyers with all the practicality they're looking for in a compact without taking away the fun elements of owning a car, like head-turning style and an engaging ride," said Barry Chew, general sales manager of Mastria Mazda, a Mazda dealer in Raynham, Mass. "Sometimes value can't be measured by a car's specs alone, and the Mazda3 has all the intangibles for appealing to driver's hearts just as much as it does to their minds."

In addition to taking top automotive honors as one of Car and Driver's 2015 10Best Cars and a 2014 Automobile Magazine All-Star, the stylish Mazda3 was honored by the international design community with a Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014 in Germany. Defined upfront by its prominent five-point grille and narrow, swept-back headlights, Mazda's compact car conveys a sense of motion with its flowing design lines and coupe-like profile. Underneath that sleek sheet metal, a SKYACTIV-Body that is 30 percent more rigid than its predecessor combines with a SKYACTIV-Chassis that is 14 percent lighter to enable swift acceleration and precise handling.
