October 13, 2020 -- In Burlington, Wisconsin, Scherrer Construction Co. Inc partnered with Klobucar Construction Co. Inc in June of 2020 to begin the new elementary school project at Turner.
Turner elementary school is a school building in the Beloit Turner school district, and the project is moving at a swift pace. The project superintendent, Skip Hegemann, has the estimated completion time for July 2021. So far, the construction is on track for this $17 million project.
In June, once the ground was broken, 18 employees laid out the building foundation and began the material for the parking lot base. The crews then set up panels for the gymnasium walls and put up the building’s steel frames.
By the end of this year, Hegemann hopes to have the frames and walls closed up for the crew to begin working on the interior. The construction site’s neighborhood is far enough away from the building, so the construction workers didn’t receive any noise complaints from anyone living nearby.
Construction on the elementary school was approved by 2018 voters and has a $26 million referendum. When the school construction is complete, the building will house grades two through five and be open for the 2021/2022 school year.
The school does not have a formal name, so the project is being called the Turner Elementary School until the naming ceremony.
John Turner, the school board president, states how “exciting [of a] time in the district” it is right now.
Scherrer Construction Co. will also include an expanded fitness center, storage units, and classrooms with STEAM-related tools.
