Not every couple can jump into business together and make it out stronger, let alone at all. Vernell and Veronica Beckum proved everyone wrong, dominating the property preservation industry as a team and becoming an envied power couple along the way. Through collaboration, dedication, and a lot of strength, this husband and wife partnership rose to the top of their industry and continue to prove why they’re the best.
Over the course of a decade, the Beckums have sailed through the highs and navigated their way through the lows by pushing each other when one grew faint of heart and sticking together against those who tried to push them down an avenue violating their own gut instincts. Combining their individual strengths compensated for each other’s weaknesses, and they were able to forge a business that’s not only successful, but also reflects their values.
Both Vernell and Veronica have complete trust in each other—giving them an advantage over others in the industry. Veronica says knowing Vernell’s best interest, and their company’s best interest, is at the forefront of every decision she makes. The same goes for Vernell.
“We’re just great business partners,” Vernell expressed.
Vernell and Veronica met at the age of 12. At such a young age, neither one of them knew they would end up being married, raising a family together, and turning their small business into an empire. Both from small towns in rural Michigan, they went to rival high schools and found love once the rivalry was over. They got married in 1999, and never looked back.
During the middle of the 2008 economic downfall, they decided to give it a shot at owning a business. They had moved to Indianapolis where they were introduced to the property preservation industry by a family member. In the middle of despair, they both had the courage to give their family a fresh start. Having found a passion in the real estate industry, they discovered even more why they were meant to be together.
The Beckums built a million-dollar company from a start-up cost of just a mere $100. Through their nationwide property preservation company, they have even helped several individual contractors they work with increase their income to six figures and mentor young entrepreneurs, helping them find their passion and work with them to build their own businesses.
Though the ride has been exhausting and all-consuming, the Beckums couldn’t stop with just themselves—they knew they wanted to help others succeed and build their dream lives, as well. Because of this, they launched their newest venture “Business with the Beckums” where they will provide a mixture of coaching, healing, forums, challenges, and more with the goal of helping business owners make strides in every facet of life.
The Beckums are far too familiar with the struggle of losing your vision and falling victim to long hours, underperforming staff, and sometimes a business growing faster (or not fast enough) than you can keep up with.
