Major influence in the case of low-carbon nickel production is coming from the part of host rocks that are composed out of more than 85% of the mass of the resource at nickel-cobalt sulphide projects. Deep research has been provided concluding with the fact that host rocks naturally assimilate carbon dioxide when are vulnerable under the air through the process of mineral carbonation that occurs spontaneously. Despite various challenges the nickel industry goes through, related to the actual processing approach of sulphide ores, there is valid feedback requiring low-cobalt nickel production in the upcoming period. It is considered that extensive modeling of renewable energy installations at mine sites will help mining operations achieve higher level of renewable electricity when improving the market solidity.
