The 21st China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) opened in Xiamen, East China’s Fujian Province on the evening of the 8th with the theme of “New Opportunities for International Investment under the New Development Pattern”. About 50,000 merchants from nearly 10 countries and regions participated online and offline. The Philippines has been the guest country of honor for the CIFIT for two consecutive sessions.
Hu Chunhua, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of The State Council, addressed the opening ceremony, saying that President Xi Jinping has repeatedly emphasized that China will unswervingly open up to the outside world and share development opportunities with other countries, and has set clear requirements for a successful CIFIT. In recent years, the Chinese government has launched a series of new opening-up measures, which have greatly boosted two-way investment and strengthened economic exchanges and cooperation with other countries. The current global epidemic continues to evolve, the world economy is fragile, and international investment and trade are facing many uncertainties. Only by expanding mutual opening up and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation can countries respond to common challenges and achieve common prosperity.
In this stage of new development, the Chinese government will open up to the outside world in a greater scope, in wider areas and at deeper levels, give full play to the positive role of foreign investment in building a new development pattern, further ease market access and accelerate the creation of a high-level open platform. China will continue to expand the breadth and depth of the Belt and Road cooperation and strengthen practical cooperation with countries along the belt in various fields. While stabilizing cooperation in traditional areas with foreign investment, China will vigorously explore new areas and space for investment cooperation. China will also fully align itself with high-standard international market rules, improve the management system of pre-establishment national treatment plus a negative list, continue to improve the quality and standardization of the service assurance for foreign investment, and create a favorable business environment for foreign enterprises.
It is reported that this CIFIT exhibition covers more than 100 thousand square meters. Against the backdrop of regular epidemic prevention and control, more than 5,000 enterprises from more than 800 economic and trade delegations in nearly 100 countries and regions attended the conference both online and offline. More than 30 important meetings and forums are held during the conference.
On the morning of the 8th, at the 21st China International Fair for Investment and Trade, 40 projects in Fujian Province were signed with a total investment of 117.4 billion yuan, covering industries including digital electronic information industry, advanced equipment manufacturing, petrochemical industry, modern logistics, cultural tourism, characteristic modern agriculture and food processing, biology and new medicine, new materials, new energy.
It is understood that the China International Investment and Trade Fair, hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China, is an international investment promotion event aimed at promoting two-way investment. It is also one of the most influential international investment events in the world.
In addition, from 8th to 11th, under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, the Center for International Economic and Technological Cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Fujian Province, and the Xiamen Municipal People’s Government will co-host the "2021 Exhibition on BRICS New Industrial Revolution" to build an efficient communication platform for exhibitors and professional visitors to explore more cooperation opportunities.
