Naseeruddin Shah, a Bollywood star, has responded to a recent demand in India for Muslim genocide. Leaders of many far-right Hindu organization have advocated for the ethnic cleansing of India's minorities, notably the country's 200 million Muslim population.

In an interview with The Wire, Shah stated unequivocally that if the situation escalates to what Hindu leaders have been encouraging, Muslims in India will strike back. The actor also shared his thoughts on what it's like to be a Muslim in Modi's India.

"If it comes down to it, we [Muslims] will fight back... "If it comes to that [ethnic cleansing], we'll do it," Shah said. "We're protecting our homes, families, and children." "Muslims are being marginalised and rendered superfluous," Shah continued. They are being degraded to second-class citizens," he said, adding, "and it is occurring in every sector."

He also spoke out against members of the Dharam Sansad, who advocated for genocide and ethnic cleansing in Haridwar 10 days ago. "I wonder whether they know what they're talking about," he remarked. "200 million people will fight back. We have a place here. We were born here, and we intend to stay here." Shah went on to say that it might lead to "civil war."

"A concerted effort is being made to make Muslims insecure," the award-winning actor added. It's an attempt to terrify us." "We should not be afraid," he continued. “I'm not afraid since this is my home. I'm worried about what will happen to my children."

According to The Quint, the notorious Hindutva activist Yati Narsinghanand organised a three-day 'hate speech summit' from December 17 to 19 in Haridwar, India's Uttarakhand state.

According to The Wire, speaker Sadhvi Annapurna, general secretary of the Hindu Mahasabha [Hindu Grand Assembly], has advocated for the ethnic cleansing of Muslims existing in the nation.

"Nothing is feasible without guns; if you want to reduce their numbers, kill them; be prepared to murder and be prepared to go to jail; even if 100 of us are willing to kill 20 lakhs [two million] of them [Muslims], we will be triumphant and go to jail," Annapurna stated.
