Texas-based technology firm iJustOrder has launched its iJustOrder platform, which allows spectators at sports and music events to skip the long lines for concessions and provides vendors and arena managers greater control over business.

iJustOrder is a two-part solution, with a customer-facing app that allows customers to order concessions and merchandise and pay for parking at the event venue. The other side is a back-end portal, where iJustOrder partners with vendors and venue managers and licenses the technology to them, allowing them to integrate their point-of-sale and payment systems into the app, which also allows vendors to receive notifications on their device for orders. Some venues and sports teams have their own app, and iJustOrder can integrate into those seamlessly through an API.

According to Chandler Young, founder and CEO of iJustOrder, he obtained the inspiration for the concept in 2017, when he was watching a baseball game in Dallas. It was the middle of summer and the game was packed, leading to long lines at the concession stand. Having to go and line up would risk him missing a pivotal point of the game, so he wished that there was an app for a delivery service that would bring the snacks to him, instead.

In May 2018, Young made his own wish come true by creating iJustOrder. Since then, the app has entered several partnerships with several sports venues, including four professional lacrosse venues, four college football stadiums, and several women's basketball teams. iJustOrder has also inked several overseas partnerships, including two soccer stadiums in Israel and a stadium in Saudi Arabia.

The business model works by taking a percentage of the customer's order as a service fee, with iJustOrder charging 5% for orders that will be picked up at the stand and 10% for those that will be delivered to the spectator's seat.

Young says iJustOrder's growth picked up in 2020, following the outbreak of COVID, as a way to conduct public events in a safer manner. The app proved to be a solution to social distancing regulations, and several professional sports teams owners have invested in iJustOrder and joined its board. iJustOrder is continuously looking for partner venues to expand, and is currently in talks with a major collegiate sports league in the US, which represents a market share of around 20%.

“My vision is to change the way we all attend events. People spend a significant amount of money on these events, and having to line up for refreshments could cause them to miss out on the action. iJustOrder eliminates the long lines, making it more convenient for fans, and it allows vendors and venues to serve more people while maintaining an orderly system.”
