The event planning startup was founded in 2021 by Ryan Oakley with the support of Villanova University’s Institution for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and has become hugely successful at bringing people together to enjoy an authentic tailgate experience. Ryan’s vision for The Philadelphia Tailgate Co. is to inject local city culture and passion into everything they do. The team is dedicated to giving back to the local economy through collaboration and helping Philly fans and concertgoers alike, surpass the difficulties of bringing the tailgate events they love to life.

During the pandemic, Ryan and his team were eager to get back outside and spend quality time with friends and family. Since Ryan is such a fan of sports and the outdoors, he became very motivated about helping other people in Philly reconnect with tailgating experiences post-pandemic.
Throughout their entrepreneurial journey, Ryan and The Philadelphia Tailgate Co. have partnered with many wonderful organizations and charities including Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, Lisa Oakley Memorial Fdn and Clutch. Since Ryan was a child, he’s had a passion for giving back to the local community, which he tries to fulfill through the work and partnerships of the Philadelphia Tailgate Co.
Currently, The Philadelphia Tailgate Co.’s team boasts over 30 years of combined experience in their industry. The company can handle any of your private events, no matter the team, location, or vision. The Philadelphia Tailgate Co. has successfully hosted an array of tailgates including birthday parties, concerts, corporate events, sports games, and charity functions. Most of these memorable events have taken place near Philadelphia stadiums, Fairmount Park, picnic areas, and performing art centers.
Since The Philadelphia Tailgate Co. has so much knowledge and experience in coordinating these events, their packages and services are full-scale. They offer all the equipment, staff, and expertise a group would need to enjoy a hassle-free experience with family, friends, and colleagues alike. Their packages vary based on the group size, but they also have individual services for sale too.
For 20 people or less, the starter pack is advertised. It covers four hours of tailgating and comes with a tent, camping chairs, tables, coolers, trashcans, cutlery, and a company host. The Philadelphia Tailgate Co. offers the same package in double, triple, and corporate sizes. For all packages, the event host will set up all equipment, maintain cleanliness throughout the event, break down the site at the end, and handle all of your tailgating needs.
Lawn game packages, bartending services, onsite restrooms, transportation, a professional DJ, photographer/videographer, grillmaster, and satellite TV are just a few of the individual services the company can provide you with.
With the recent success of the city’s sports teams including the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, business is greater than ever. The company is hoping to scale into other states and audiences where there is a strong passion for local sports teams. Ryan envisions collaborating with upcoming event planners who need help elevating side gigs into a business. He hopes to provide the resources, marketing tips, and other assistance to help them reach their fanbase and make a positive impact on the local economy. In the meantime, Ryan and his team will keep hosting exciting and memorable tailgate experiences for the greater Philadelphia area.
