Elephant Learning Math Academy has published conclusive research into their gamified online learning platform developed to excel the mathematical capabilities for children and students of all ages.

The study examined the effectiveness of the Elephant Learning platform that teaches mathematics to children to prepare them for kindergarten curriculum as well as students of all ages. During the time the study was conducted, Elephant Learning had served over 140,000 students. The academy then took a sample of those students consisting of 57,000 to determine the effectiveness of the curriculum. Looking at the outcomes of the research, it was determined the curriculum enabled students of the program to learn over a year's worth of mathematics over the course of three months by studying for only 30 minutes per week.

During the course of the study, students used the Elephant Learning platform over different periods of time in varying durations with coaching provided to the parents for students to overcome any obstacles they may have had in the curriculum.

The research study consisted of a placement standard where students over five years of age were given an exam to determine their level of mathematical understanding. Students who were younger than five-years-old were automatically placed based on their age. Parents of the students involved in the research were given the option to confirm their children’s level of mathematical knowledge and adjust where they were placed in the program if needed.

The Elephant Learning platform was integrated with programming that had default settings which conducted a placement based on a student’s age. The programming would start approximately two years behind the student’s current level of mathematics in order to catch up with the student and identify any gaps or areas the student had trouble working through. Students were presented with puzzles associated with common core and state standards in conceptual mathematics. As the students progressed through the material they were presented with more complex problems and puzzles to work through.

Dr. Aditya Nagrath, Founder and creator of Elephant Learning, says the study enables the math academy to present their findings to school districts and parents throughout the nation.

“Sending more children through the Elephant Learning program will contribute to students at a young age being able to keep up with math based curriculums in school instead of falling behind and trying to catch up,” says Nagrath. On average the students are gaining over a year’s worth of math in just three months which will put them ahead of their peers.”
