SuperDville, a unique provider of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) video curricula, has announced its partnership with Bamboo® Learning. SuperDville’s mission is to empower children who learn differently while Bamboo® Learning aims to boost reading & speaking fluency, comprehension, and overall literacy. The founders, Peggy Stern and Irina Fine, met at the Future of Education Technology (FETC) conference in New Orleans, where they discovered the potential benefits of working together.

While Peggy Stern was pitching SuperDville during the conference, Irina Fine happened to be listening. After the presentation, both women discussed the ethos of their companies and what goals they wanted to fulfill within education. Irina and Peggy connected on their mutual passion for helping children with learning disabilities, especially those from underserved schools and communities where the ability to diagnose and provide support is often lacking.

SuperDville’s programs consist of five-minute videos starring children with learning disabilities. This educational content teaches children self-esteem, resilience, and empathy, among other social and emotional (SEL) competencies. As those skills are cultivated, children are encouraged to discover their strengths and appreciate their challenges within the classroom. This allows them to understand their struggles and utilize that information to advocate for their needs as learners. SuperDville’s videos are paired with pre-written lesson plans and activity options for educators, making them convenient and engaging.

By partnering with Bamboo® Learning, SuperDville allows the AI-led company to present its video content as short books that focus on social emotional themes specifically useful for children with learning differences. Hence, forging the perfect edtech marriage between literacy and SEL, between reading and self-esteem. The Bamboo® Learning platform developed conversational, voice-enabled educational software for students from kindergarten through fifth grade in the classroom and at home. The company offers hundreds of fiction and nonfiction books integrated with thousands of reading and listening comprehension activities. While children listen to and read Bamboo® Learning content, the program pauses periodically to ask questions. This dialogue enables the technology-based program to assess children’s understanding of the content. Depending on children’s responses, Bamboo® Learning provides relevant strategies to improve listening and reading comprehension. The company’s AI-powered platform also offers trackable data via a web-based educator portal that can inform teachers about a child’s specific needs and how to accommodate them.

Peggy from SuperDville and Irina from Bamboo® Learning both have firsthand experience with learning disabilities in education. Peggy is a filmmaker with dyslexia, so she understands how children who learn differently struggle. Irina has decades of experience teaching in New York City schools and witnessing the lack of adequate resources. These insights have fueled Peggy and Irina’s vision for helping underserved children flourish.

SuperDville and Bamboo® Learning have been praised for their proprietary applications. SuperDville won the SIIA Innovation Showcase this year for their emphasis on peer-to-peer interactions, while Bamboo® Learning won the Pitchfest in Language Learning category at the Future of Education Technology Conference this year. In the future, SuperDville plans to conduct its second pilot to impact more children and educators.

Irina Fine says: “I am thrilled to be working with the SuperDville team and offer students a meaningful conversation about social and emotional concepts facilitated by AI. We are able to scale this experience to millions of students and make it accessible to all learners, regardless of their academic achievement level and learning differences such as dyslexia or ADD.”

Peggy Stern expresses her excitement when describing the future of the partnership: “I am thrilled that the SuperDville video episodes will exist in a book form on the Bamboo Learning platform, and enable different learners to have a private experience, where they can go at their own pace while improving their literacy skills, reading comprehension, and their understanding of important social and emotional themes that will help them succeed in school and in life.”
