TONE’s Audio-Activated QR technology™ utilizes sound to passively engage with audiences, products and services. It allows for never-before-seen levels of engagement, activation, and metrics.

The company that created the Audio QR code, TONE, is driving expansion of their services into new industries. By applying tiny fragments of engineered audio, TONE-Tags® deliver ads, special offers, coupons, and content to smart devices–phones, tablets, TV’s, computers and more–for brands to monetize audiences.

TONE is currently expanding into the healthcare, manufacturing and logistics industries in order to provide better tracking of daily operations, improve services, and reduce workplace accidents. The expansion into the manufacturing industry comes as TONE is partnering with a major automobile manufacturer to monitor the internal workplace environment, as well as measuring the health of workers.

With the expansion into the healthcare industry, TONE aims to improve the tracking of high value assets such as ventilators using the audio technology that TONE has developed. TONE is able to track the asset during the entire process to be delivered to its intended destination and ensure it does not get lost or stolen. In addition, the company can monitor patients at home and the status of medical equipment that the patients are using.

TONE utilizes a small physical device that is attached to an asset to track it, which uses GPS, WiFi, cellular or AP resolution. TONE has also developed and deployed wearable technologies that monitor patient health through their sound-generating technology.

Tom Webster, Founder and CEO of The TONE Knows, says the company is always seeking to broaden their services into new industries in ways that haven’t been seen before. The Audio QR code was developed as a method for brands to reach consumers–anytime, anywhere. While TONE saw early adoption into the media, entertainment, and retail industries that seek comprehensive engagement metrics, its innovation has been embraced by industrial and healthcare sectors.

Currently, TONE Tags are broadcast across radio, television, streaming, and films. They can also be utilized in live sporting events. Once a mobile device “hears” a TONE Tag, it will deliver targeted information to the consumers who have opted-in to receive the messages. According to Webster, one of the most important aspects of the Audio QR codes is ensuring people’s data remains private.

Every TONE-Tag that is generated is completely unique to the engagement that it targets. TONE does not track people or listen for keywords in conversations, and it does not have its own mobile app. Instead, companies can have the TONE-Tags integrated into their own branded platforms.

Webster says one of the goals in founding TONE was to give companies and brands the ability to more effectively understand and market to consumers. “What we have seen recently is some of the world’s largest tech companies trying to ‘corner the market’ on advertising technologies so they can gain a control of large amounts of user data. This is effectively eliminating marketers' abilities to engage people through traditional means - like gathering cookies, notifications, and geolocations. Soon, the only way marketers can effectively execute, will be through paying these large tech companies to advertise on their platforms or networks.”

TONE has worked with companies and brands across 20 different industries in countries throughout the world. Webster says the TONE audio technology can be tailored to fit any business model.

“The creativity in which our customers have applied the TONE technology to solve business problems in ways we never imagined is absolutely amazing,” says Webster. “We don’t have to change one byte of code for our customers to implement the audio technology into their business models.”
