Denzel Mooney, better known as Feng Shui Jimmi, an aspiring hip hop artist, and his wife Rosay who aspires to work in high fashion share their life’s journey and the mission behind their visions.
Growing up in a single mother household in Baltimore, Maryland Denzel became the man of the house at just three-years-old. Through the internet and playing basketball, Denzel would learn on his own how to provide for his family and communicate.
Denzel went on to pursue a path of academics and sports, as his family believed is to be the best path towards a successful future. Denzel cites his fascination growing up with the developing internet at the time, in addition to the “hoop culture”, which he says would later become a key tool for his growing success as a rapper. Denzel took the chance to study at Lincoln University, the nation’s first degree-granting Historically Black College and University, on a full scholarship to play college basketball.
This gave him the opportunity to travel the world. During this time, Denzel began to learn about different music cultures and how people from different parts of the world and country interact with each other. One of the inspirations that Feng Shui Jimmi used in his life to start building his own brand and career opportunities is a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson that states, “don't go where there's a path instead, go where there is no path and leave a trail.”
Feng Shui Jimmi began utilizing social media as a way to promote his music and when he met his wife Rosay he says his music began to take on a new meaning in his life.
“My music took off when I met my wife, as I started redefining and unlearning the old ways of anger and resentment, and I understood how to take aggression and repurpose it into something beautiful, loving and creative,” says Feng Shui Jimmi. “Now that I don’t have an outlet in playing basketball anymore my wife helped me learn empathy, compassion, mental maturity and emotional intelligence. This has pushed me to take a stand for myself, my family and never lose sight of that. And since taking this new path Love, God has been blessing me and lighting the way, despite me not being where I want to financially ”
As a couple who build upon each other's strengths and inspire each other to follow their dreams to have an impact on the world, Rosay’s journey into the fashion industry stems from her childhood where she would conceptualize fashion while watching famous celebrities on television. While still in middle school Rosay began sewing her own clothes and later she took on a passion for shoes, which led to the founding of her first company called Fashion Walks 101. Rosay realized the competitive market of the shoe industry, which has inspired her to elevate her work with shoes into the mainstream of the fashion industry and work with the best couture designers and become a creative director.
“My dream in fashion is to be part of an elite team where everyone’s voice matters and have the chance to work with some of the top designers in the industry,” says Rosay. “I don’t want to play small, I want to stick with my big dreams and have a successful career.”
As the loving parents of their 3 month old son, their core principle is to maximize the harvest while being able to maximize their time together. Family is number 1!
A hip hop and fashion parenting duo, Feng Shui Jimmi and Rosay hope to partner and receive funding from other artists and creators to showcase their work around the world and serve as an inspiration for people to find their own passion in life and pursue them with a motivated heart and soul. With A new single “Sensational” to drop in the next month, Feng Shui Jimmi is welcoming the world to the West Wing. Where it's all about Peace, Love and Hair Grease!
