John Capone and his wife Giovanna Andolina Capone, co-founders of La Famiglia Pictures, an independent film development and production company, share their mission behind the company and the types of films they aim to make.

After graduating from an acting school in Santa Monica, John and Giovanna found they had a joint passion for storytelling and an eye on the market for the types of film that they wanted to make. Together, they founded La Famiglia Pictures, an independent film company that strives to produce films that are self contained, thought provoking and substantive in a way that audiences are able to connect with on a personal and emotional level. They aim to work on projects across a wide array of genres while maintaining the creative integrity of the films.

They look at stories as an important part of the human experience whether it's psychological, cultural or spiritual, which gives them the ability to be a gateway toward something that is a higher version of reality. When people engage with a provoking film it acts as a medium for them to think about ideas, feel emotions and work through moral dilemmas.

“I view stories as a fundamental piece of how humans are evolving as a species and that really gives me a lot of passion and motivation to make meaningful films,” says Capone. “When Giovanna and I work on a film with our team of creatives, we put everything we have into crafting an experience that audiences will find thought-provoking and unique.”

The first project that they made together was a sci-fi thriller short film that dealt with the dark side of technology with an emphasis on the deeper animalistic instincts inside of human beings. The film followed the CEO of a controversial virtual reality tech startup involved in pornography.

As a writer/director, Capone seeks to address the lack of movies coming out that reflect the real values of people; their experiences, wants, needs, fantasies and dreams. With a focus on telling truthful stories that reflect reality, John and Giovanna were able to successfully complete the production and release of their first movie titled, “Neon Bleed,” which garnered numerous awards on the festival circuit and released to streaming in January of this year.

Neon Bleed is a film that deals with crime and corruption, manipulation, drug use and violence. The movie centers around a pop star who reconnects with his creative voice, and has to make a huge decision under the pressure of his management team. Capone says the film is about having the moral courage to stand up for what one believes in.

The success of Neon Bleed has enabled La Famiglia Pictures to commence development on their next project: a $2 million film titled “Baby Blue.” Capone completed the script for the movie prior to the COVID19 Pandemic but was forced to stall the development process once the pandemic began affecting the film industry. He says the primary focus for the new film is to reach greater audiences and further define the brand of La Famiglia Pictures.

“We know Baby Blue will lead us to opportunities for more funding and bigger films,” says Giovanna. “We’re so grateful for all we’ve been able to accomplish and we have an exciting vision for the future of La Famiglia Pictures. This is just the beginning.”

Neon Bleed is now available to stream in the US on VUDU and Tubi Free TV and on Amazon in the UK.
