Zhongshan, Guangdong – The grand finale of the 8th Tsinghua Alumni Triple Creation (Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Creativity) Contest, focusing on Internet and New Economy, was successfully held in the Cuiping New District of Zhongshan on November 23, 2023. This marked the first time the esteemed event took place in Zhongshan, comprising a series of activities including the global finals, a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Tsinghua Alumni Zhongshan Cooperation and Development Exchange, a Tsinghua Alumni Zhongshan Tour and Technology Matchmaking session, and site visits.
Distinguished attendees included Zhang Huiyang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee, Director of the Management Committee of Cuiping New District, and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Nanlang Street; Yuan Jianxiong, Secretary-General of the Tsinghua Alumni Triple Creation Contest; Deng Yongqiang, Executive Secretary-General of the Tsinghua Alumni Association Internet and New Media Committee; Wang Xuehui, Deputy Secretary-General of the Triple Creation Contest and Partner of the Shuimu Tsinghua Alumni Seed Fund; Li Hui, President of the Zhongshan Tsinghua University Alumni Association; Zhang Yu, Assistant Dean and Director of Strategic Development and Cooperation at the Tsinghua University Institute for Intelligent Industry; Zhu Xiaocheng, Partner at Inno Angel Fund; and judges, guests, media representatives, department officials from Zhongshan, and participating teams.
The event featured a roundtable discussion on "Empowering High-Quality Development with Data Elements," exploring how data enables high-quality socio-economic advancement in the new era. The consensus was that data-driven empowerment is essential for modernizing industrial systems and propelling the economy towards higher quality development.
Out of 60 projects registered in the Internet and New Economy track, 31 advanced to the national finals. These projects represented sectors such as new media, metaverse, e-commerce, e-government, smart cities, financial information, internet, industrial interconnect, network communication, and security. Competitors were divided into seed, angel, and growth stages, with top selections made in each category. Awards were presented during the Zhongshan City Cooperation and Development Conference in 2023.
The event was co-organized by the Zhongshan Municipal People's Government and the Tsinghua Alumni Association. It was undertaken by the Zhongshan Science and Technology Bureau, Zhongshan Industrial and Information Bureau, Cuiping New District Management Committee, and the Tsinghua Alumni Association Internet and New Media Committee.
