Frontline Support Solutions has hit a significant milestone following over a decade of innovation, hard work, and determination. Jose Perez, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business owner, and Minority Certified Federal contractor, founded the company in 2010. His journey reflects a relentless commitment to overcoming challenges and making a positive impact on his community and the nation as a whole.
In 2011, Perez competed for and was awarded a project with the Department of Veterans Affairs to create and implement a waste recycling program throughout Central Texas. He discovered that the VA medical centers were throwing away nearly 20 cubic yards of unserviceable bed and bath linens about every quarter. Perez began his quest with the founder of Pürlin Linens to develop an alternative to cotton linens that could be recycled instead of dumped in local landfills. They initially developed a non-woven version of the product, which was their first viable market product, to be more economical than cotton linens. Over the next few years, they settled into a woven version that is much softer and performs better than cotton.
In March 2020, they launched the product into the healthcare market. Unfortunately, this coincided with the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. This completely stymied Perez's business model and ability to highlight the benefits of Pürlin Linens. Despite these challenges, Perez and his team worked tirelessly to remain in business and have succeeded in relaunching. With his warrior attitude and never-fail ethos, Perez demonstrates his remarkable adaptability to market conditions and perseverance in difficult times. He emphasizes that failure isn't the end, but a stepping stone to learn and avoid future mistakes.
With a combined leadership experience of nearly 59 years, Frontline Support Solutions values innovation, integrity, commitment, and safety as success factors. The company fosters a culture of collaboration between team members and suppliers, with its leaders demonstrating moral courage and the discipline to achieve excellence. The company embraces innovation, encourages trailblazers to take the lead, and recognizes that prosperity favors the bold.
Frontline Support Solutions is committed to finding sustainable solutions to everyday problems. Pürlin Linens solves one such problem. These products eliminate the entire maintenance process used in traditional bed and bath linen care. Pürlin Linens are a one-time, single-person use linen. Once used the product is gathered and recycled through a de-milling process that melts down the linen, which is then filtered and extruded back into raw, PET plastic pellets. This raw material can then be re-used to make new linens or any PET products. The company aims to change the existing linen maintenance paradigm to one that eliminates the need for natural resources like water and electricity, chemicals and sanitizers, labor, etc.
Their flagship healthcare product, Pürlin Linens, is a sustainable bed and bath linen designed for single-person use during natural disasters, and within healthcare settings. These environmentally sound and sustainable linen products eliminate up to 33-55% of the laundry load in base healthcare operations and can even be deployed for military combat operations. These linens are 100% made of PET Plastic, making them shelf-stable for long periods of time, minimizing logistics and warehousing as they take up less than 25% of the space for normal cotton bed and bath linens. Pürlin Linens helps fight cross-contamination and supports infection control efforts during natural disasters and in healthcare operations.
Looking ahead, Frontline Support Solutions is not just celebrating a milestone in surviving COVID-19; it is continuing its mission of paving the way for bringing innovative solutions to the Federal Government. The company's emphasis on introducing innovative solutions, particularly during natural disasters and periods of national distress, showcases Perez’s long-term vision that extends beyond immediate business aspirations.
