Kim Diamond, the inventor of the PhoneSpuds multi-purpose accessory, has announced a search for retail partners to distribute this unique product that combines the characteristics of a decorative pillow, a phone case/holder, and a power bank.
The PhoneSpud, with a shape resembling a potato, features a removable and replaceable transparent vinyl screen that accommodates smartphones and allows users to continue interacting with their phones. Additionally, it includes a zippered compartment for a power bank, as well as a "belly button" opening for charging cables. This versatile feature lets individuals simultaneously use and charge their phones during various activities like travel, camping, or leisure time. It is available in different colors and patterns, with new designs being continually added.

Using its weighted base, the PhoneSpud can double as a stand, supporting both vertical and horizontal phone orientations. This functionality allows users to comfortably access their phones even in various positions. The product has proved popular with users of all ages, from young digital natives to elderly people who want to use their phones while relaxing.
A version with a bundled power bank is available, as well as one without, for customers who would like to use their own power banks.
According to Diamond, she came up with the idea for the PhoneSpud after a serious bout with COVID-19 left her bedridden for quite some time. During this period, she couldn’t do much aside from use her smartphone, so she realized the need for an accessory that could easily be used while lying down in bed.
After designing the PhoneSpud, she pitched the idea to ProductMentor®, an organization that provides assistance, investment, and mentorship for inventors and entrepreneurs, with several of ProductMentor’s partners having gone on to become multi-million-dollar businesses. ProductMentor saw the potential of the PhoneSpud, and it gave Diamond valuable coaching on how to further develop the product and grow her business.
On January 16 to 22, 2024, PhoneSpuds will be featured at the Atlanta Market at AmericasMart for the first time, and Diamond will be there to make connections with potential partners and mutually expand their business networks.
A wide variety of distributors and retailers have already expressed interest in carrying the PhoneSpud, and it is expected to hit their shelves and web catalogs soon.

Aside from these, Diamond is targeting various retail establishments to add to this list. These include gift and novelty shops, airport and travel stores, as well as sellers of smartphone and other electronics accessories. Due to the story behind the PhoneSpud’s invention, Diamond believes that gift shops at hospitals are also perfect for selling this product, as it will be appreciated by someone who is recovering from an illness or surgery, due to their limited movement capability.
Diamond is targeting retailers and distributors within the US, to further accelerate her goal of bringing her invention to a wider audience.
