Geology is defined as ‘the scientific study of the earth, including the origin and history of the rocks and soil of which the earth is made.’ For Andrew Long, however, geology is a thrilling fusion of art and science and the answer to most of mankind's questions. In 2018, Andrew set out on a mission to unravel the Earth's structure’s code, aiming to shift geology toward the objective science category with Sigmoid Tectonics™, a new universal language. To achieve that, he founded Subterrane, a future technology-driven firm.

Regular visits to his grandmother’s home, where Andrew would revel in the joy of exploring bookshelves brimming with mystical books, sparked his inner curiosity and creativity. What ultimately ignited his fascination with geology - and a certain author - was the day Andrew came across Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne. Since that memorable childhood moment, he became an avid collector of Verne’s novels and a fervent enthusiast of what’s underneath the Earth’s surface.

“Of course, what he wrote about this journey doesn’t really bear resemblance to what we understand about the Earth today,” muses Andrew. “But it did inspire me to pursue a career in geology. It was all I could think about, and no other path seemed right.”

Within the walls of Imperial College in London, Andrew refined his skills and expanded his knowledge, preparing himself for the uncharted geology realm. His university journey ended with academic accolades, such as a BSc in Geology with Geophysics and an MSc in Petroleum Geophysics. Moreover, Andrew is a proud holder of the PrSciNat certification and the AAPG associate membership.

Utilizing his newly obtained collegiate wisdom, Andrew accepted a job in the oil industry, where he would leverage cutting-edge software to assist in oil extraction. He quickly realized that the software used was often inconsistent with reality, hindering his progress and career fulfillment. Seeking other ventures, he then joined the mining industry. Though the career shift felt significant, he still encountered the same software issues.

The field’s innate subjective nature is one part of the problem. “Geology has a unique flair,” he adds. “It bridges the gap between pure science - such as maths, physics, and chemistry - and art, from historical data to abstract, renaissance, and classical. What we’re doing now is permitting geologists to create their map interpretations. They may reflect on reality, but that is never certain.”

Tapping into his mathematically coded mind and his natural ability to trace back problems, identify issues, and rigidly follow a logical process that solves them, Andrew developed Sigmoid Tectonic™, the first universal language transgressing Einstein’s and Newton’s theories of gravity.

The conception of Sigmoid Tectonic™ precipitated from Andrew’s mining job when he discussed the idea of creating the Holy Grail geology solution with an Executive Board Member of the company. In 2014, Andrew began crafting his life’s masterpiece by elevating traditional geology projects through unconventional methods. Though it raised questions and doubts at first, he persevered.

2017 marks the pivotal year, which Andrew describes as ‘the time that sparked discovery.’ “Ever since advancing Subterrane’s IP to gain a new understanding of gravity, everything has been a discovery,” he adds. In 2024, the universal language created by Andrew can describe the structure that holds diamonds and other resources, utilizing predictive intelligence and an elevated gravity theory to accurately locate invaluable resources underneath the Earth’s surface.

After over six years of continuous improvements and exploring the depths of the Earth, Andrew revealed the first investor opportunity, which he calls ‘the diamond opportunity.’ In this 5-year project plan, he aims to sub-license Sigmoid Tectonics™ to protect the world’s remaining sustainable diamond deposits.

Looking into the future, Andrew strives to develop the oneEarth™ system to understand the processes determining the Earth’s structure from its core to the surface. His projects will also leverage deep tech solutions, renewable and nuclear energy sources, and an IP portfolio designed to shatter the geology status quo.

From a curious kid lost in the magical book universe to a pioneer of a more just and evidence-based excavation future, Andrew Long has written a story of resilience, passion, and self-discovery.

“When an inventor develops something new, many people will ask, 'How can you spend all your time brainstorming and coming up with new ideas?' They don’t understand this perpetual journey of self-discovery we embark on every day,” he shares. “Because of my resilience, I have entered the realm beyond what is considered ‘known science.’ Exploring excites me, and I am not even close to ending my self-discovery path.”
