The Global Sportswear Design Award (GSDA) is organized by the Tsinghua University-ANTA Group Joint Research Center for Sports Fashion. From 2021 to 2022, the first GSDA, with the theme "MOVE—Motion Brings Animation", kicked off without a hitch, successfully establishing an internationally known platform of sports fashion.
The second GSDA, with the theme "MOVEvolution—Envision the Future", was launched in July last year. The event solicited innovative sportswear designs in aspects of Digital Intelligent Future, Trend Fashion, and Environmental Protection while empowering designers to explore and shape the future of sportswear in a more diversified and eco-friendly manner.
The second GSDA received a total of 2304 submissions, including 618 entries from professional designers and 321 from overseas participants, spanning various fields such as sneakers, clothing, and accessories. After being evaluated and scored by a panel of a dozen experts from design institutes and renowned international universities, the 40 finalists in two categories received their final rankings.
According to the schedule, the winning entries will undergo mentor guidance and prototyping in the coming months. The release event of winning works will be held in September 2024.
As the organizer of GSDA, the Tsinghua University-ANTA Group Joint Research Center for Sports Fashion has always been committed to building a globally leading innovation platform for sports equipment. During the final, the organizer will also run the study on the trends in China's sports fashion industry in parallel. With China's ongoing globalization, the shift from "Made in China" to "Designed in China" and "Created in China" is gaining increasing attention in the design circle and becoming a pivotal issue for Chinese businesses.
With a slogan of "Sports for the Future", GSDA aims to provide a platform for young designers worldwide to realize their dreams of creation, discover and nurture creative talents by combining academic and industrial resources, and boost the development of China's sports fashion design industry.
