The pest control industry has a market size of $24 billion and is expected only to grow in the future. Within this sector, around $4.2 billion is dedicated to termite control. This wide and expanding market corresponds with the estimated annual $7 billion of property damages caused by these pesky pests. While one out of every five American homes currently experiences termite damage, their presence unfortunately is expected to spread across the USA as climate change wreaks its havoc in the coming years.

With home and property owners reasonably preparing to protect their real estate against the multiplying risk of termite infestations and a lack of innovation in the pest control industry, products like the Termite HydroTrail™ are a welcome change to maintaining owners’ investments as a first line of defense and to helping the professional pest control companies provide a better service and reduce insurance costs and potential liabilities. The recently patented HydroTrail™ is Inzecto’s cutting-edge yet simple-to-use new technology in the tricky business of controlling termite populations, providing the triple-threat service of monitoring, preventing, and treating termites.

Termite stations are plastic containers of cellulose – the preferred food for termites – placed in the soil around the house, usually 15 ft apart from each other and a few ft from the building. “The hope is that termites will find these stations before reaching your house,” says Dr. Phil Koehler, Professor Emeritus of Entomology at the University of Florida, “If a station isn’t laid close to a foraging guideline, termites are likely to make their way to the house instead, and it becomes a potential point of failure.”

The HydroTrail™ is a liquid solution designed and produced by Inzecto that can be dripped to penetrate the soil and connect the stations together. This liquid trail underneath the soil is irresistible to termites and leads them straight to termite stations, eliminating the risk of these destructive creatures missing the stations and reaching the property. Additionally, it extends the radius at which termites can detect the cellulose packaged within stations, causing them to find the stations more quickly. This allows professional pest control companies and property owners to combine faster detection and better protection, getting up to three times more stations’ hits.

Inzecto’s CEO, Enrico Levi, uses his mantra: “Biology, technology, service” as the driving force for the transformative changes his company is leading in the industry. “First, we analyze how the insect behaves. Then we develop a solution to impact the insect’s life cycle that is elegant enough to make the service easily accessible and cost/efficient.” The HydroTrail™ comes from many years of research and has recently gone through a new three-month-long test in Jacksonville, Florida, that reported unprecedented results in terms of faster detection and better protection, drastically increasing the efficacy of the stations already available on the market.

The HydroTrail™’s ability to connect the stations and expedite detection is effective against the most common species of subterranean termites and persists for three months in the soil. After which, the treatment must be repeated through a simple process.

Homeowners need not worry about the health of their soil. The HydroTrail™’s active ingredient is a biodegradable chemical that the EPA has recently stated cannot be considered a pesticide. “The formulation is so safe that its main component is found in medical eye-drops and cosmetics,” states Enrico Levi.

Inzecto is proud to announce that they will be presenting at PestWorld, the biggest trade show in the world in the pest control industry. The conference, set in Denver, Colorado, between October 22nd and 25th, 2024, brings the largest suppliers and distributors of pest control products and services together to share their growth and innovations in the field. Inzecto is excited to present its findings with the HydroTrail™ and share the revolutionary value of its product with strategic partnerships. Mr. Levi shares, “We believe that the industry will be extremely receptive to this level of innovation because of the simplicity and efficacy of this solution.”
