Alexandria, Va.: The National Motor Freight Traffic Association, Inc. (NMFTA)™ has announced the release of its latest resource, Importance of Packaging and Organization in Transport. This resource provides an overview of packaging and organization in transportation, highlighting tracking, documentation, and best practices for securing less-than-truckload (LTL) freight to ensure customer satisfaction.

When transporting cargo, businesses should prioritize the safety of both products and workers involved in the process. Products can be safeguarded through measures like waterproofing, strapping, tying, and cushioning, and proper labeling, which helps protect packages during transit. Enhancing customer satisfaction involves providing real-time tracking updates and detailed packing lists. For worker safety, proper equipment should be used, ergonomic lifting techniques practiced, extra care taken with fragile goods, and appropriate training provided for handling hazardous cargo.

“Utilizing proper packaging and organization techniques results in a much more efficient process for delivery,” according to NMFTA. When securing a load, businesses should prioritize maximizing truck space, cost efficiency, environmental sustainability, avoiding overloading risks, effective inventory management, and meeting legal requirements.
