What started as a smart idea—and maybe a bit of a workaround for freezing ladders in mid-December—has quickly grown into something much bigger. Lights by HomeOne, the Calgary-based permanent outdoor lighting company, is proud to announce its expansion into a new 10,000 square foot facility to support growing demand across Calgary and into new markets beyond.
The new space, located in southeast Calgary, will house the company’s operations, warehousing, and training teams under one roof, allowing the team to keep up with a customer base that, frankly, grew a lot faster than anyone expected.
“We thought demand would be steady when we launched. We didn’t quite expect it to take off like this,” said Jordan Martin, Owner of Lights by HomeOne, who admitted they’ve had to “add staff, trucks, and inventory at a pace that sometimes feels like sprinting uphill—but in a good way.”
Since launching just a few years ago, Lights by HomeOne has installed thousands of permanent LED lighting systems on homes throughout Calgary. But it’s not just the product—though that helps. It’s the feeling people get when they don’t have to drag lights out of the garage every year, or climb a ladder when the weather turns. And it turns quickly, in Calgary.
The company’s lighting system offers year-round flexibility through app-controlled, colour-customizable lights that blend in discreetly with the home’s architecture. The result? Festive when you want it, subtle when you don’t. And always easy.
“People aren’t just buying lights,” Jordan added. “They’re buying time back. They’re buying a break from one more seasonal chore.”
The company’s rapid growth has also meant rethinking how it operates. The new facility is more than just storage—it’s a space built with long-term vision. With dedicated areas for product development, installer training, and logistics, it allows the team to streamline operations while improving turnaround times for homeowners.
“It’s a big move for us,” said Kyle Robson, Operations Manager at Lights by HomeOne. “But it’s not just about having more space—it’s about being able to serve customers better. Faster installs, better support, and the ability to take on larger projects without cutting corners.”
And while Calgary remains the home base, the team is already setting sights on new regions. Early tests in surrounding communities—and even out-of-province inquiries—have made it clear that this isn’t just a local trend. The demand for permanent lighting is rising everywhere.
Still, the team insists they’re taking a thoughtful approach. No rushed franchising. No overpromising. Just solid, local growth fueled by word of mouth, quality workmanship, and the fact that once you see a house with it… well, you sort of want it too.
There’s also a very human reason behind the expansion: people just really like it. It’s the kind of upgrade that improves everyday life in small, satisfying ways. Whether it’s lighting the way home on a dark winter night, or flipping on warm golds for a backyard evening in July, the lights quietly become part of the rhythm of a home.
“More and more, customers are telling us the same thing,” said one installer. “They didn’t expect to use the lights as much as they do. And now they can’t imagine not having them.”
The company plans to continue hiring over the coming months, with a focus on experienced installers and support staff who align with their customer-first approach. They also hinted—without committing to anything official—that new product features are being tested for release later this year.
For now, though, the focus is on doing what’s already working—and doing it better, with more space, more capacity, and the same attention to detail that’s gotten them this far.
