Robert Andrew Millar & Associates founder Robert Andrew Millar has announced his volunteer role as organizer for Modernism Week’s inaugural La Quinta program, set for February 19, 2026. As a member of The La Quinta Country Club, Millar will lead the one-day activation showcasing a curated selection of modernist residences open to the public for the first time. The event blends architectural storytelling with community hospitality, offering guests an immersive experience into La Quinta’s mid-century legacy.
“This is our way of offering stewardship through hospitality,” Millar says. “When visitors enter these homes, they encounter decisions made by renowned architects about materials, light, and landscape that express a particular way of life. The tour is designed to be both educational and enjoyable. I hope that guests leave with an appreciation for preservation and the instincts to support thoughtful stewardship.”
Millar’s leadership brings together local advocacy and professional expertise. He has decades of legal and real estate experience advising clients on complex transactions and investment strategies. His negotiation skills, diplomatic approach, and deep interest in design are key assets in connecting private homeowners to an international audience.
Modernism Week celebrates and preserves mid-century architecture, design, principles, and cultural history. Its annual February festival draws designers, scholars, and enthusiasts for lectures, exhibitions, and hundreds of curated events.

For the first time, Modernism Week will include a curated tour inside The La Quinta Country Club. The program will feature six privately owned residences selected for their architectural and historical significance. “Mostly built in the late 1950s and 1960s, these properties emerged during the city’s development as a resort retreat, with the country club anchoring the estate building,” Millar shares.
Community volunteers will offer technical and cultural insight into each home’s materials, structure, landscape, and indoor-outdoor flow. Following the tours, a club reception featuring guest speaker Matt Tyrnauer, acclaimed American film director and journalist, will offer architectural and historical insights.
This expansion into The La Quinta Country Club acknowledges that the Coachella Valley’s mid-century story spans multiple communities. Several homes on the tour were commissioned by discerning patrons and reflect the influence of architects who shaped the region’s modernist legacy, such as William Cody and A. Quincy Jones. The program highlights La Quinta’s neighborhoods and landscapes as vital chapters in desert architecture, inviting both specialists and curious visitors to explore how these homes responded to climate, leisure, and technological change.
The program will open with a tour of the community and guided visits to selected homes. Tyrnauer will offer remarks, with program details to be shared closer to the event. Tickets for Modernism Week Signature La Quinta Country Club Home Tour will go on sale November 1, 2025, at 12 PM PDT. These tickets typically sell out within the first few hours, so early purchase is recommended.
Ultimately, Modernism Week’s first-ever La Quinta program invites guests behind the exclusive gates of The La Quinta Country Club to explore its charm through a thoughtful blend of architecture and hospitality. By opening the doors to never-before-publicly shown homes and sharing the stories behind their design, the event offers a warm and engaging look at La Quinta’s place in the Coachella Valley’s modernist heritage. Millar’s experience and passion help create a welcoming atmosphere where visitors can appreciate the beauty of preservation and the quiet elegance of desert living.
