PrintingCenterUSA celebrates its 55-year milestone, offering a rare opportunity to look back at how a business steadily adapts, expands, and earns trust across generations of customers. For PrintingCenterUSA, the anniversary reflects not only longevity but an evolution shaped by technology shifts, customer needs, and a constant focus on improving how people bring their ideas to life.

The company began in 1970 as a local print shop serving communities across Montana. According to President Craig Barber, the early years brought steady demand but also the familiar daily challenges of a traditional brick-and-mortar print operation. For roughly three decades, the team focused on local and statewide work, building its reputation one project at a time. He notes that the company’s sales peaked locally, but growth beyond that market required a different approach.

According to Barber, the turning point arrived in the early 2000s, when the internet reshaped how customers searched for services and how businesses presented themselves. Barber recalls that his team initially didn’t know what to expect. “I didn’t know anything about the internet,” he says. “It was an employee who first encouraged me to consider online potential.” What followed became a pivotal moment: the launch of their first website and an early introduction to search engines and pay-per-click advertising. “Through the power of the internet, we became closer than your local print shop. After all, no matter the time, you don’t even have to leave your desk to start your printing journey,” he adds.

From Barber’s perspective, this phase required constant experimentation and resilience. As he explains it, learning the online landscape created both opportunity and a steep learning curve. But as the company began receiving national orders, it shifted from a largely local presence to a trusted resource for customers across the country. The increase in volume prompted investments in new equipment, expanded capabilities, and a renewed focus on digital workflow efficiency. “It opened up a whole new world for us,” Barber says.

Over the years, PrintingCenterUSA further adapted its operations to match changing customer expectations. The team transitioned from primarily offset printing to digital production, allowing for shorter runs, faster turnaround times, and flexible ordering options. According to Barber, the introduction of digital equipment reduced turnaround times significantly while also creating new operational challenges that the team learned to navigate.

Today, the company emphasizes multi-page products such as books, magazines, booklets, and catalogs, along with an expanding range of additional print materials. “Customers across the U.S. increasingly rely on the company’s blend of accessible pricing, knowledgeable customer service, and user-friendly ordering experience,” Barber explains. “A key factor in the company’s growth is the way customer service representatives guide people through decisions, technical questions, and best practices.” He notes that team members bring practical, industry-specific insight to each job, helping customers navigate everything from file setup to production expectations.

According to Barber, the company’s website continues evolving based on customer feedback, staff input, and ongoing collaboration with development teams. He also highlights the importance of long-standing customer relationships, sharing that a large portion of orders come from repeat clients, many of whom return because of the consistent experience they receive.

As the company reflects on 55 years, Barber emphasizes that innovation remains a priority. “The team remains committed to innovation, expanding product options, and strengthening the customer journey, while always guaranteeing their satisfaction,” he says.

While this anniversary marks a major milestone, Barber and his team view it as another step toward what’s next. PrintingCenterUSA continues listening closely to its customers, adapting its processes, and exploring new technologies, an approach that has carried the company from its Montana beginnings to a national presence. The past 55 years tell a story of steady transformation, and the organization believes there is more ahead as it continues evolving alongside the businesses it serves.
